10 Skincare Routine Tips from Beauty Therapy Trainers

Beauty Therapy tips for the ultimate skincare routine

Healthy skin is about much more than looks. A skincare routine designed around your individual factors keeps you healthy on the outside as well as inside, and achieves the luscious glow we all desire. Plus, it’s a nice feeling to pamper yourself a little every day.

So, what’s the secret to the perfect skincare routine? Our Beauty Therapy Trainers all have their favourite tips and tricks, gathered over successful careers. Here are our top 5 “do’s and don’ts” for healthy, resilient skin every day.

Do:

1.       Drink plenty of water

Drinking 8 glasses of water flushes out toxins and keep your largest organ hydrated throughout the day.

2.       Eat healthily

Cut down on caffeine and alcohol (they can cause inflammation and dehydration) and stick to foods high in vitamins C, E and A, as well as antioxidants and iron.

3.       Stick to a routine

Whether you use 2 products or 10, each step provides essential daily nutrients for healthy, balanced skin.

4.       Find products that suit your skin

Tailor your routine and regular products to your specific skin profile (you can book a beauty therapy consultation if you need help with this).

5.       Get to bed on time

A full night’s sleep protects your brain health, keeps your body fit and rejuvenates tired skin.

Don’t:

1.       Skimp on SPF

Using broad-spectrum sunscreen (or moisturiser with sunscreen) every day prevents premature skin aging caused by UVA and UVB rays.

2.       Take scalding hot showers

Hot showers might be soothing, but the heat strips your skin of oils and proteins that keep it hydrated and elastic.

3.       Skip through your routine

This bears repeating for good measure: keeping up your skincare routine with the same products every day maintains a natural balance and glow.

4.       Touch your face

Bacteria on your hands can cause a breakout on your face, and aggravate existing blemishes.

5.       Be rough on your skin (or yourself)

Exfoliate gently and avoid harsh chemicals in your skincare routine. Be kind to your skin and it will be kind to you.
