For some of us, creativity is a part of who we are. That was the case for Georgia, who displayed a creative flair from a very young age.

“I was always creative,” she recalls. “I did art at school and always loved doing things with my hands – basically anything creative.”

Her passion for creativity continued into Year 12 at high school, when she started experimenting with make-up palettes. It was her brush with make-up that led her to complete a Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics last year.

And while she enjoyed using her creative skills to experiment with make-up on her friends and family, there was something more Georgia wanted to do with her creative make-up skills.

“I had always been interested in movies, especially prosthetics and how you can transform a person into whatever you can imagine,” she explains. “I wanted to learn how to do that.”

It was her passion for theatre, combined with the creative make-up skills she had demonstrated during her high school productions, that led her to the opportunity of working on a stage production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Although still in high school, after contacting her VET Coordinator, Georgia was offered this unique opportunity through TrainSmart Australia as a pathway to their CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media. And there are even more incredible work experience opportunities in store for Georgia through the course.

“I think the course sounds amazing,” Georgia enthuses.

“It’s a very fun course that covers heaps of units like hair through the decades, styling of wigs, applying different styles of make-up, and airbrushing techniques. It really intrigues me, because you can learn heaps of new skills.”

With the range of specialist skills taught and the award-winning trainers on the course, Georgia is confident the course will give her the in-depth knowledge and skills she needs to pursue her dream job as a make-up artist for stage and screen.

“My dream job would be to work on theatre productions that travel around the world, or TV and movie sets creating wigs and prosthetics for characters. I love the idea of working on sets and with special effects. I’d be doing something different every day,” she smiles enthusiastically.

“This course will help me do that as it offers valuable work experience which helps for job applications. It would also help as I would know a lot of amazing skills which would really help me in any creative industry.”

Georgia looks forward to starting her course and the opportunities it will open up for her as she pursues an exciting career as a make-up artist to the stars.
