In this 12 week course, you will be exposed to various facial cleansing treatments including hands-on experience with microdermabrasion treatments. This 12-week course has been designed to formally train beauty students in deluxe facial treatments, specialised facials, skin resurfacing microdermabrasion, maintaining infection control and advising clients on beauty services and products.

Whether you’re wanting to expand on your current beauty services, looking for a refresher course or want to start your learning journey in beauty, this short course is for you.

Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll gain a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the 4 units completed.

WHAT IS MICRODERMABRASION?

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical treatment that improves the appearance of the skin on a person’s face, neck and décolletage areas. By using a microdermabrasion applicator, the outer layer of skin is abraded to promote new skin growth.

During this course, you will have hands-on experience using various tools to treat and improve skin appearance from wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, uneven skin tone and texture, enlarged pores and blackheads and prevent breakouts.

This specialised course has been designed to formally train beauty students in deluxe facial treatments, specialised facials, skin resurfacing microdermabrasion, maintaining infection control and advising clients on beauty services and products

How will you study the Facials and Microdermabrasion Short Course?

Learning alongside our beauty trainers and students, you’ll be required to attend our Perth CBD campus one day per week. On-campus, you’ll get hands-on training applying treatments within our beauty salon.

You’ll also be given access to our Student Portal to complete the theoretical component of this course.

This course is only offered to students located in Perth, WA who can attend our Perth CBD campus.

How long is the Facials and Microdermabrasion Short Course?

The duration of the Facials and Microdermabrasion Short Course is 12 weeks, with classes running one day a week.

entry Requirements

TrainSmart Australia will assess a student’s ‘academic suitability’ to ensure the student has the best chance of success.  There are no formal academic prerequisites to enrol in this course, however, please contact us for more information regarding entry requirements. 

Please note, we are unable to enrol international students at this time.

Provide facial treatments and skin care recommendations

SHBBFAS002

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide facial treatments to meet client needs. It requires the ability to establish priorities with clients, synthesise knowledge of anatomy and physiology, skin science, cosmetic chemistry and nutrition, and to design and provide facial routines and advice on products and protection of facial skin. Facials can be a single treatment or form part of a series of treatments. The unit applies to beauty therapists who work in beauty salons and spas. In this environment they are part of a team but make independent treatment decisions.

Provide specialised facial treatments

SHBBFAS003

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide specialised facial treatments incorporating the use of ultrasonic, direct current, high frequency and micro current devices. It requires the ability to establish priorities with clients and synthesise knowledge of skin, performance of electrical machines and allied cosmetic products, and to design and provide treatments to address specific skin types and conditions. Not all equipment is used in each specialised facial treatment. Specialised facials can be a single treatment or form part of a series of treatments. This unit applies to beauty therapists who work in beauty therapy salons. In this environment they work in a team but make independent treatment decisions.

Provide micro-dermabrasion treatments

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use pre-set systems using crystals and vacuum suction to exfoliate the skin of the body or face. It requires the ability to establish priorities with the client and synthesise knowledge of skin science and effects of treatment on skin structure, and to design and provide a safe and effective treatment. Micro-dermabrasion treatment can be an individual service or form part of a series of services. This unit applies to beauty therapists who work in beauty salons. In this environment they work in a team but exercise judgment in selecting and providing an appropriate treatment.

Maintain infection control standards

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to maintain infection control during skin penetration treatments and to review clinic compliance with the applicable state or territory and local council requirements. It requires the ability to identify, manage and control infection risks to clients, self and work colleagues. This unit applies to beauty therapists who work in beauty therapy salons, clinics or in cosmetic medical clinics. These therapists work autonomously and make independent treatment decisions.

Facials and Microdermabrasion Short Course Career Opportunities

With this Facials and Microdermabrasion Short Course, you can be qualified to issue various facial treatments including microdermabrasion’s as a Skin Therapist and Dermal Therapist.

Dermal therapies are generally priced from $130 per procedure for a one-hour. Regular customers receive microdermabrasion’s every 4-6 weeks.

Upon successfully completing this course, you’ll gain a statement of attainment for the 4 units completed. From achieving this qualification, you’ll be well-placed to undertake further study within Beauty and Make-Up.
