The CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health is the ideal course for those who want to enter Australia’s challenging yet rewarding mental health services workforce. This Mental Health course will equip you with knowledge and practical skills to assist and lead people affected by mental illness to get their lives back on track.

You will learn skills in supporting, communicating and working with individuals experiencing mental health issues, learn how to respond to critical situations, intervention strategies and much more.

This nationally recognised Mental Health course will subject you to work placement of 80 hours to expose you to a real-world setting and allow you to apply and develop the skills you have learned. Our work placement officer can work with you to arrange your placement programs.

Course Details

This course is for you if you’re passionate about helping improve the lives of those experiencing mental illness.

Our CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health covers a range of content and skills to equip you in the mental health sector including; Self Directed Recovery, Mental Health Services, Trauma-Informed Care, Self-Advocacy, Respond to Crises, Provide Loss and Grief Support, Domestic Violence and more.

This course is delivered via face-to-face training for Jobs and Skills WA students. For non JaSWA students, all learning resources will be available online. A trainer will be assigned to guide and support you throughout your studies, and will be able to offer help and advice.

The CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health is 6 – 9 months long.

This qualification requires the completion of 15 units, including assignments. You’ll be required to undertake a mandatory work placement of at least 80 hours, which will give you valuable experience in the sector.

TrainSmart Australia will assess a student’s ‘academic suitability’ to ensure the student has the best chance of success. This is determined by either:

  • The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of an Australian year 12 certificate; or,
  • The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of a Certificate IV qualification (or above) that can be verified or,
  • The student completing the Core Skills Profile for Adults online assessment passing at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy.

All prospective learners will attend a mandatory face to face career counselling session to assess their suitability for this Certificate IV level qualification.

The CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health qualification can lead to job opportunities in Australia’s Mental Health Services including;

  • Outreach Worker
  • Community Worker
  • Mental Health Worker

Upon the completion of the CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health you will also be well placed to undertake further study.
