Course Details

If you want to help others in your community improve their lives and enjoy a rewarding career, you should consider studying the CHC53215 Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs.

This CHC53215 Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs course covers a range of content including; Professional Practice, Advocacy, First Aid, Counselling Relationship, Client Relationships, Co-existing Needs, Interventions, Trauma-Informed Care and more.

Assessments are by way of written assignments and have a practical component. You will receive dedicated trainer team support throughout your studies. To achieve this qualification, you will be required to complete a range of practical activities (simulation exercises) either online or face-to-face.

TrainSmart Australia will give you advance notice so you can make necessary arrangements to ensure you are able to participate in these workshops.

Learning is online over a 12 month period.

TrainSmart Australia will assess a student’s ‘academic suitability’ to ensure the student has the best chance of success. This is determined by either:

  • The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of an Australian year 12 certificate; or,
  • The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of a Certificate IV qualification (or above) that can be verified or,
  • The student completing the Core Skills Profile for Adults online assessment passing at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy.

The CHC53215 Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs qualification can lead to a number of career opportunities with job titles such as;

  • Drugs and Alcohol Counsellor
  • Service Coordinator
  • Youth Liaison Officer
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs Case Manager
  • Support Worker
