How will you study the Diploma of Beauty Therapy & Diploma of Screen and Media?
The Dual Qualification SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy and CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media is a nationally recognised qualification.
You will be taught by fully qualified and trained theatrical make-up artist trainers who have more than 25 years combined experience in this area. You will also be taught by international beauty therapists, with world-renowned experience!
In preparation for industry, your learning will be primarily comprised of practical, hands-on work in the classroom. You will also undertake some practical theory assignments online, and receive training and assessor support throughout your studies.
How long is the Diploma of Beauty Therapy & Diploma of Screen and Media?
The course is offered on campus in the heart of Perth’s CBD for 3 days a week for 12 months.
TrainSmart Australia will assess a student’s ‘academic suitability’ to ensure the student has the best chance of success. This is determined by either:
- The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of an Australian year 12 certificate; or,
- The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of a Certificate IV qualification (or above) that can be verified or,
- The student completing the Core Skills Profile for Adults online assessment passing at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy.
You may be required to complete a Bridging Course if you do not meet the above academic suitability criteria or at the request of our career advisory team.

All units of competency must be completed in order to successfully attain both the CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media, and the SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy.
On completion, you will receive the below core and elective units;

On completion of this dual qualification, you can be qualified to work as a make-up artist and a beauty therapist!
You can be qualified to work as a make-up artist in a number of different fields and media. These include television, theatre, fashion, film, print, magazines, red carpet and celebrity work, events and many more. You could be employed in a range of businesses, or work on a freelance basis.
Remuneration varies for make-up artists, with highly experienced make-up artists often able to earn more. As such, your earning potential will generally increase as you develop your skills and build your experience. Generally speaking, you can expect to earn $450 – $2000/day working on high-profile movies, or $90 – $200/hr providing make-up for photoshoots, school balls, weddings and other events.
The SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy offers many exciting career paths. As a qualified Beauty Therapist, you will be sought after as a therapist, manager or supervisor in a variety of beauty settings. Some of these include;
