What will you learn?

The Certificate II in General Education for Adults is designed to equip the learner with the essential skills and knowledge in reading, writing, mathematics, oral communication and computers.  The program focusses on having a thorough understanding of numeracy and mathematical formulae and the ability to write texts confidently and to effectively solve problems.  You will receive support and guidance throughout the course and will be allocated your own personal trainer who will be able to guide and assist you.

The Certificate II in General Education for Adults also offers students the opportunity to take elective subjects in either cookery or beauty to enhance career prospects and target their job search in a chosen industry. Guidance will also be offered in job searching skills, networking and resume writing.  It’s designed for people who may have left school before year 11 or may not have English as their first language.  It is expected that upon successful completion of this program that the learner will be able to undertake further training and education or take up employment.

How will you study?

The course will be delivered face-to-face. Students must attend classroom sessions and are expected to actively participate in group discussions.  Class sizes are small and timetables fit in around school hours. Learners will receive dedicated trainer support. Start dates are flexible.

Many units are studied and a student will be expected to complete assessments.

What are your career opportunities?

This qualification is ideal for individuals who want to enhance their employment opportunities or who may want to go on and complete further studies.

Student entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, TrainSmart Australia will assess a students’ ‘academic suitability’ to ensure the student has the best chance of success. This is determined through the student’s educational history and where required Foundation Skills testing.

Cost of this course

This training is subsidised by the WA Government. The program under which subsidised training is offered is known as Future Skills WA. The WA Government contributes to the cost of each course and the student pays the balance.

Fee exemptions and concessions are available for disadvantaged learners. The course can cost as little as $75 but you must meet eligibility criteria to qualify for the Government funded concession price.  Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as student services and resource fees.
