Having come a long way in the past ten years, online or distance learning is growing at an incredible rate – and it’s not hard to see why!
Online learning is a truly flexible way to study. It allows you to work at your own pace – and in your own time – to fit around your other commitments.
Study online with Moodle
Moodle is the online learning platform you’ll use if you study with TrainSmart Australia.
Moodle an acronym that stands for Modular Object-Orientated Dynamic Learning Environments, but it’s commonly known by its shortened nickname. Dubbed the single biggest flexible learning innovation since the advent of online learning itself, the rise of Moodle has allowed people from all walks of life to access training and education to develop their careers and improve their lives.
Moodle was developed in 2002 right here in Australia, when inventor Martin Dougiamas set out to create online courses with a focus on interactive content. Fifteen years later, 70 million people worldwide currently use a Moodle as part of their online learning experience.
How does e-learning work?
When you begin a course at TrainSmart Australia, you will be allocated your own dedicated trainer who will guide and assist your learning journey, as well as monitor the assignments and assessments you complete online. Your trainer will offer constructive feedback, and be in regular contact with you to ensure you’re well supported throughout your studies.
At its essence, e-learning works like this: you will study a series of units on Moodle, which will then lead to an assessment. Your trainer will mark this soon after submission and come back to you with feedback so you know how well you’re doing.
Our online learning programs are interactive, integrated, available 24 hours a day and can be studied anywhere at any time. They’re also personalised, and incredibly easy to use on either a mobile phone, laptop or PC.
The TrainSmart Australia Moodle includes quizzes, forums and an area where students, trainers and participants can post new comments and ask questions. And by using plug-ins and add-ons, the platform can constantly be updated and evolve as course content changes.
How do I get started?
There’s no need to be worried about using our interactive Moodle system – we will offer you full support.
To start off, we will send you an email that includes your login details, explains how the learning platform works and provides other essential information to help you get started. This will also explain the process of accessing resources and uploading assignments.
You will then receive a one-on-one training session with our Moodle Support Officer. This is done through ‘Gotowebinar’, which is similar to Skype. In this session, our support officer will show you the critical elements of your learning tools and guide you around the Moodle platform.
And while many people find this training sufficient, we are more than happy to provide you with further help if you need it – just let us know!
Ultimately, our Moodle platform is easy to understand and your trainer is always available to help you, so there’s no need to panic.
